It will explain the “ins and outs” of baptism and what it means for a follower of Jesus. COME CHECK IT OUT SUNDAY!!!

Element’s HUGE extravaganza known as 180 Weekend will be March 2^nd – 4^th, and this year our theme is Kingdom Come.  We are bringing in the line-up we worshiped with at Deeper 2011 for this weekend, with Jon Ludovia speaking and Ryan Abel and Friends leading in worship.  Registration cost right now is $50 and is available at www.elementsm.com, the Element tent on Sunday mornings, or at Element on Wednesday nights.

I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me. And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.

But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs. For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. So then, welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him, because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me (Philippians 2:19-30 NIV).

Observation: Paul intends to send two men to Philippi.  Paul endorses these guys as role models.  What made these guys so special?

Interpretation: A Godly man is caring and looks our for the interest of others (v. 20, 21).  God is looking for men who are consistent (v. 22).  A Godly man is cooperative (v. 25).  A Godly man is courageous (v. 27-30).

Correlation: Look for other verses that talk about Timothy and Epaphroditus in the Bible.

Application: Honor men like these.  Which observation do you need to work on?

Not only study the Bible, but think about how you can feed someone else.

What do you have to say to people who are coming this Sunday who have never been to Facedown before?  “Facedown is a time where our TNC family comes together to celebrate in a time of worship and experience the taking of communion. It is an irreplaceable part of the DNA of TNC that is evident in the worship, fellowship, and celebration that takes place.”

How will this Facedown line up with 40 Days Between the Lines? “Although all of our worship songs are Scripture-based, we will be be putting a higher emphasis on connecting Scripture to the songs we are singing that night. There will also be other activities, like writing the Word down as a church, that will be taking place before both services.”

What can people do to prepare to head into this Sunday night?  “Facedown is a time that we celebrate and worship Christ in our lives by singing, taking communion, and surrendering to him. One of the most important parts of communion is the inward observation of what needs to be surrendered to Christ; what issues in our life we need to let go of. People can really take the time this week to think about those things so they can come prepared for the moment of communion. Because after that, we are celebrating the resurrection power; the freedom in his blood; the revolution his love can create! It’s going to be great!”

Facedown is this Sunday night, February 19, at 6 pm and 8 pm in the North Augusta High School auditorium.  Pre-service activities will be taking place beginning at 5 pm and 7 pm.  Please plan to get there early for an incredible night!

Facedown

Facedown is an evening of sharing in communion and worship with the TNC family.  Make plans to attend one of the Facedown service this Sunday night, February 19, 2012 at 6pm or 8pm.  As you arrive on campus, or after the service, please come by the gym lobby where each person will participate in handwriting a verse in the books of Mark and Philippians.  Journey Land will be available for preschoolers.

The purpose of TrueNorth Church’s, Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the “8 Recovery Principles.”  This experience allows us to “be changed.”  By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually; we become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors.  This freedom will create peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.  As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power – Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.  CR meets every Sunday at The Blok (1297 W. Martintown Rd.) starting at 6pm.

TrueNorth Church

One of the regular areas TrueNorth Church has a year-round relationship with is Gentry’s Mobile Home Park in North Augusta, SC.  While ESL classes and other activities take place throughout the week, residents were happy to see the many TNCers who came to visit Saturday morning to hang out with them, work on la Casa de Esperanza (“Hope House”), and be smiling faces with a great purpose.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8 NIV).

Between the Lines
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” (John 14:16 NIV).

“All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you” (John 16:15 NIV).

The Holy Spirit will help you understand God’s Word when you read it.

Between the Lines
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength” (Ephesians 1:18, 19 NIV).

Frequently, when you read the Bible, your eyes should be opened to know, understand, and see God in fresh ways.

Between the Lines
Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba. When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes. Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, “I cannot watch the boy die.” And as she sat there, she began to sob. God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.” Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink (Genesis 21: 14-19 NIV).

What happens when your Spiritual eyes are opened?  You see solutions to your problems.

God wants to illuminate what you’ve read with his Spirit.

He also wants you to see what is blocking your progress.

Between the Lines
But God was angry that Balaam was going, so he sent the angel of the LORD to stand in the road to block his way. As Balaam and two servants were riding along, Balaam’s donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand. The donkey bolted off the road into a field, but Balaam beat it and turned it back onto the road. Then the angel of the LORD stood at a place where the road narrowed between two vineyard walls. When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, it tried to squeeze by and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall. So Balaam beat the donkey again. Then the angel of the LORD moved farther down the road and stood in a place too narrow for the donkey to get by at all. This time when the donkey saw the angel, it lay down under Balaam. In a fit of rage Balaam beat the animal again with his staff.

Then the LORD gave the donkey the ability to speak. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam. “You have made me look like a fool!” Balaam shouted. “If I had a sword with me, I would kill you!” “But I am the same donkey you have ridden all your life,” the donkey answered. “Have I ever done anything like this before?” “No,” Balaam admitted. Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the roadway with a drawn sword in his hand. Balaam bowed his head and fell face down on the ground before him (Nehemiah 22:22-30 NLT).

You see that God is watching out for you, and walking with you.

Between the Lines
So one night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city. When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha. “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. As the Aramean army advanced toward him, Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please make them blind.” So the LORD struck them with blindness as Elisha had asked (2 Kings 4:14-18 NLT).

How can opening Spiritual eyes happen in your life?  Begin an relationship with Jesus, and ave the Spirit of God come into you.

“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:14 NIV).

Invite God to open your eyes of faith.

Between the Lines
“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (Psalm 119:18 NIV).

Seek to maintain a pure heart.

Between the Lines
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8 NIV).

Once again, I want to THANK each person and family that have committed to attending our 8:30 am service each Sunday. You are providing an INVALUABLE ministry to newcomers!!! Every Sunday we continue to have multitudes of first time visitors. We need every seat we can muster at our 10 & 11:30 am services. I want to continue to ASK more of our TNC members to SERIOUSLY CONSIDER attending our 8:30 service. By doing so, you are opening up your seat to the many guests that are filing into TNC each Sunday at 10 & 11:30 am.  Will you consider it? SPEAKING OF SUNDAY, TNC launches CELEBRATE RECOVERY Sunday night!! I’ve been hoping and praying to begin this ministry for several years. CELEBRATE RECOVERY is a CHRIST CENTERED, 12- STEP recovery ministry designed to LIBERATE individuals dealing with HURTS, HABITS and HANG-UPS. Under the leadership of Jay and Andra Armstrong, and a team of trained TNCers, Celebrate Recovery will be held at THE BLOK (TNC offices) on Martintown Rd.  An optional dinner is available at 5 pm for a small fee, and childcare is provided for ages 3 years – 2^nd graders. The service begins at 6 pm. I can’t wait to see how God transforms hearts through CELEBRATE RECOVERY.
